There are so many things to love about University High School. I have had incredible teachers and the opportunity to take many wonderful classes. My favorites were AP U.S. History with Ms. Stuart and Dr. Hosmer, AP Computer Science with Mr. Herring, and AP U.S. Government and Politics with Mr. Karlowicz. The community is also incredible and has been incredibly strong and supportive. The community is accepting of all students. There are also many sports and extracurricular opportunities. During my time in High School, I tried out math club, unity club (tutoring immigrant students), girls who code club, and science olympiad. There are opportunities for students in a variety of disciplines.
However, I did not enjoy the heavy focus on AP classes and testing. While many of the best classes at UHS are AP classes, I think the administration and school does not provide enough opportunities for students to take Honors or other non-AP courses.

University Highschool is a school for those who want a high-school experience with a focus on improvement and mastery of school subjects while also meeting new and amazing friends along the way. With outstanding staff, councilors, and teachers standing by to assist struggling students, there are many ways a student can reach out and make their high school experience the best it can possibly be. The teachers all strive to make a positive lasting impact on their students lives by being open to critique and flexible with their schedules. Many teachers spend lots of their unpaid hours communicating with students and perfecting their lesson plan for the next day, making sure that when their students come into class the next day, they will receive the highest quality of education.
This school is one of the most academically challenging in the city of Tucson, with a welcoming and loving student body and an equally welcoming staff. It does have a few downsides, however, as it shares a campus with Rincon High School and thus provides a bit of an issue. Additionally, the campus lacks much of the student diversity initially advertised as a majority of the student body comes from Caucasian backgrounds, while the population of students of color is relatively low. Nevertheless, the school provides solid education and offers many resources to assist you in your academics both in high school and college. Overall, a very good school to attend.
