University High School is a very small public charter school that harbors a population of only about 500. If you're into large sports teams, Friday night football games and high school parties every weekend, this is not the school for you. This is a college prep school and the academics are very rigorous. The students here are not like other high school students. They respect one another, are very studious, empathetic, friendly, and outgoing. Going to a small school means you know everyone and see everyone every single day. You can never avoid anyone. UHS is a very small school, meaning resources are limited. There is no gym or track. The speech and debate program is very underfunded. Overall a great learning environment!

I really enjoyed my years at university high school with all the loving and encouraging teachers. It was very enjoyable to have not only classes that could lead you down a specific branch you’re interested, but also having amazing counselors to help you in your future goals and throughout high school. The only thing I would change is having more medical classes, I really enjoyed having biomed but it would’ve been cool to have other similar classes!
In my experience at University High School, there were many things that I did not enjoy about the school. The peers were rude, always secretive around teachers, and never really interested in their studies whatsoever. As a student-athlete, I often found it embarrassing to be classified with some of the other students because I believed that they could have done so much better, but showed no effort to improve themselves. This was a major reason why I chose to participate in the Running Start program to take college classes and get college experience while in high school. While most students were bad and some teachers, I really enjoyed being in the classes run by the science program. They really made that portion of my day highly enjoyable and that is the only reason I gave this school an extra star rating.
