My son has had a great experience at UHSSE. Mostly, the academic opportunities that are afforded to the kids at UHSSE are incredible, allowing the kids to earn college credits and actual college experience from University of Hartford. Sports are difficult, first and foremost because we don't have our own gym for practices. Secondly, there aren't enough kids at our school to support full teams, so we have to partner with other schools to create them, which does not allow for camaraderie and often hurts chemistry, but I suppose that we should just be thankful that we have a sports program these days!

The administration is amazing and the teachers are terrific. My son has had great academic success and owes it to the incredible staff at UHSSE. Overall, a great high school experience!

UHSSE to me was a mixed experience, the small and diverse school offers a lot of opportunities to not fall into just one clique. You will meet a lot of people and have a lot of chances to hear a lot of different life stories.
The teachers vary greatly, those teaching to students at the "Honors" level can completely misjudge students and teach at a level undeserving of the Honors marking. Some teachers are fantastic, Mr. Brown and Mr. Kearney come to mind.
To me, this high school is two different high schools. One for students taking AP levels, Uhart courses, and Uconn classes and another for those who aren't at that level yet or confined there because they were misjudged their freshman year. For all this school offers, the administration needs to do a better job for their teachers and students. You owe it to them.
My experience at this school is very good. Some things I wish would change is student involvement. There is not a lot of student involvement in anything whether it be clubs or sports. Also, there should be more activities for students to participate in. The academics here prepare students well for college but, there should be more diverse classes to fit all students.
