University High School Academy is a college prep school, meaning we have to test to get into the school. The one thing I love about University is how small our school is, we only have about 500 students. Having such a small school makes it seem as if we're all family, the teachers, and staff really know and care for each and every one of the students. However, I hate the fact that we get treated like crap! Our school has no air conditioning, and temperatures reach 90+ degrees outside, it's evident that there are "favorite" classes, and the students are always last to know things.

University High School Academy has been my second home for almost 6 years now. I started attending University High School Academy in 2013 at the U.H.S.A Prepatory program they offered for 8th graders. Reading the acceptance letter I received from University in 2012 caused an abundance of emotions to overtake my young mind, and body. Attending University High School at this age helped prepare me for the work load that was to come later on in my high school career. As the years went on university became more, and strictly academically based. University prepares students for college with the workload, and teaches leadership skills, which is why I feel I lack the overall high school experience. Many high schools are able to maintain academics, have sports teams, assemblies, games, homecomings, and school spirit bonds that my school lacks. If I had the opportunity to change my high school to my liking, I would improve the school interaction, and incorporate the school spirit that we lack.
University High school Academy is a recently established S.T.E.M based school located in Southfield Michigan. At UHSA you are introduced to a variety of new topics and subjects as you are challenged in rigorous courses used to prepare students for college readiness. One accent to UHSA would be the diverse AP courses ranging from AP Human anatomy to AP seminar for students looking to go into different career fields and majors. As University High School Academy also has a very small number of students, it offers a unique tightly knit community for students. In brief UHSA is an excellent, modern high school experience that helps build communities.
