UHSA was a great school! They prepared me for the real world and to take college. The teachers are excellent and are compassionate. I am grateful to all of them. They treated me like I was family while giving me the gift of a quality education. The principal was very involved with the students. She knew us all by name. They kept us well rounded with involvement in sports and activities as well as the current events that were affecting the world. After graduating, I was able to adjust well while at college. A lot of the things I have learned so far is a review as I was introduced into it in high school. This was a solid foundation to build upon.
Review University High School Academy
University High School is a good place for your child if you want them in a challenging environment, with other ambitious students and helpful teachers to guide them the way to success. To even get them started with the rigor, you can have your child come to UPREP, where the student will spend 8th grade in our building. They include more classes and field trips for students who want to go into the medical or engineering fields, like Human Anatomy and Robotics, but also have a few art/social studies programs and related classes, like AP Studio Art, and AP Art History. If your child is into sports and/or marching band, all of our students get bused to the other high school in Southfield to play football, soccer, baseball, volleyball, cheer, tennis, track, and participate in the marching band after school. Overall, there is something for everyone, and most students who take the entrance test each year are accepted.
The school was great! I loved being there and it was very welcoming. University High is a great place since there was absolutely no judgement there and everyone was friendly. I spent four years there and it was all amazingly fun. Though we didn't have out own sports teams, which wasn't great and the school was unbelievably small and we were actually inside another school. The people were great, but the school itself was pretty crappy.
