University City Senior High School Reviews

The school overall is a welcoming place that is highly inclusive and I have never witnessed bully. Although there is problems with fights, which in my opinion is stemmed from inadequate student engagement and inadequate staff. I would like to see Friday night football games to ramp up students energy during the fall and other dances like winter formal to get more student engagement and better the high school experience. You’re only in high school once and we need to make it count.
This is my high school currently, and I love it so much. I have had some of the best teachers who taught really well and have made so many great friends. The current principal is very good at his job and tries to keep everyone safe and accommodated all the time. I've felt safe and secure in school, and theres almost always kindness and laughs I hear.
I have absolutely loved all four years at U. City High School. As a student of the district since kindergarten, I have seen many peers leave and cite the general unfair concerns about a majority-black school district: It's unsafe; it's academics don't measure up; students don't leave college or career ready; teachers are burned out and don't care; the environment is underfunded, dangerous, and distracting. I can almost guarantee that anyone who makes such claims has never set foot inside the building, and I feel bad for anyone who succumbs to their preconceived stereotypes. The school culture is everything and more that I could hope for in a high school. The students are bright and friendly; everyone is accepting and has a place to fit in. The teachers genuinely care about their students and want them to succeed. I take immense pride in being able to say I went to U. City because I have found a true home here.
