What I like about Union High School is the student diversity of the school. How it’s a place that you go and encounter different cultures and races. It’s fun to be in school that is that way. Which means your are received with open hands regardless of where you came from. They have fun trips to different colleges to provide the experience you need and open the opportunity for any career outlook of your interested. There’s also great programs like GVSU TRIO in which gives you great trips to Western Michigan, Michigan State and University of Michigan, among others. In these programs they provide you with college coordinators that give you great tips on financial aid and how to start applying for scholarships at a early start. That is amazing!! You could even start taking AP courses and take early college credit. It’s a welcoming community where you also learn to be a leader a role model for those that follow ahead of you. Which motivates you do what’s right and set the example.
Being able to meet others from different backgrounds and different cultures is very important here. Academics are rewarded highly, although poor academic skills are often shunned and looked over, making it hard for people from less opportune backgrounds to shine.
Union High School is a very interesting place. It is very diverse which as a student is good. You get to learn everyone's culture and enjoy meeting new people. Union has very many good opportunities , like you can travel to Washington DC and visit places like the capital and the white house and be able to share your voice there. Union is also a promise school with many scholarships awaiting students on their way to college. Scholarships from Challenge Scholars , Our Community Foundation , and a Scholar ship to Grand Rapids Community college . the staff at union are very supportive and are people youd love to meet. union has its downsides too like , most students dont take advantage of the resources the school provides. so in the end my recommendation for Union is great. Just remember to be dedicated and you should be able to go very far here.
