The UCTech environment is competitive and driven. They offer a substantial amount of actual college classes correlated with Rutgers where we can earn college credits. This is mainly in the Clinical Care and Exercise Physiology academies. These academies take classes like; medical terminology, anatomy and physiology 1&2, scientific priniples of nutrition, intro to physical therapy, dyanmics of healthcare, intro to pharmacology, and much more. School of Design, Sustainable Science, and Teaching Education Academies all go to Kean University their senior year of high school. The Law and Justice academy is also very challenging in which they take AP psychology, AP government, crime scene investigation, intro to the criminal justice system, criminal law and procedure, and more. Students in some of the academies have the opportunity to go on an internship their senior year too.
UCTech challenges students academically and prepares them so well for college, like no other high school does.

I believe the Union County Vocational-Technical High School is a good school, but I believe there are many aspects of it that need improvement. For example, the administration is very poor and leaves the students in the mess of their doings many times. Due to the administration, many good teachers have left, students have been lead to empty promises, and many of the parents confused on why their children are not being given what they were promised when they applied. On the upside, though, this school allows students to concentrate in"academies" that they apply into when the are first going into high school. These academies give career based classes and educate the students on the field they plan to go into. Another benefit from this school is that in many of these academies, students are sent to be dually enrolled at Kean University for their senior year. Unfortunately, when these seniors are sent to Kean, the administration leaves them confused and with a lack of information.
There's a reason why UCVTS is considered to be one of the best school districts in NJ. With its small class sizes, challenging honors curriculum, and amazing faculty/staff, there's no place quite like it. The UCTECH School of Design program has challenged me immensely, and has helped me prepare for a career in the arts. If you're considering any of the schools at UCVTS, I definitely encourage you to go to one of the information sessions to see the campus firsthand. I guarantee that you'll fall in love with it!
