My time in Union County High School wasn't a bad experience. I had good teachers, who enjoyed their jobs and the subject they were teaching. There were good clubs and programs to be a part of, I was even in FFA during my time in school as well. It was a program that I enjoyed a lot, and hope that anyone who is interested joins it. However, it wasn't perfect. The resources in the school could be better. Better books, computers, and etc. The food wasn't the worse, but it could be better. It wasn't the most diverse school as well. I was one of the few colored students in the class, but I wasn't mistreated in anyway. There could've been more foreign language classes, we only had a Spanish classes. The library could have been funded more, but the librarians did what they could to make it interesting so I enjoyed going in there at anytime. Music and art classes need improvement as well. While I enjoyed myself a lot, there was a lot of things that could be improved in this school.
I had a wonderful experience at this school. I am very proud of how they have handled COVID-19, and what they have done for the class of 2020! They have ensured that each student is safe, while also providing food for those in need.
The environment of the school is great, the facility is supportive and helpful in assisting with careers and getting to go where we need to go once we get out of high school. We have opportunity for dual enrollment in junior and senior year, although it would be better if we had it for all grade levels. There are honors classes, but limited choices for classes besides the common core classes. We do have health care track, business track, woodworking, and automobile but we don't have the opportunity for things like culinary arts, or any other foreign language besides Spanish. We can drive off campus in our junior and senior year, but it would be better if we had it for sophomores as well if they are able to drive. The clubs and activities are diverse, and sports are limited but still helpful.
