I feel lucky to be a part of Tuscarora High School and its story. One aspect I enjoy about our school is the diversity we have to offer. We are in the top 20% in terms of diversity in the schools throughout Maryland. I believe that being surrounded by students of teachers of differing cultures and ethnicities has further educated all of the students, myself included. Many of the teachers also deserve recognition for the work that they put into assisting each student in their personal journey. It's easy to see that each department has teachers the students connect with, which goes hand in hand with their academic success. Personally, I have experienced this the most in the Arts Department. I have been involved in marching and concert band throughout all four years of high school, and it has made my experience infinitely better. These specific teachers care so deeply for their students and continuously push them in all of the right ways to ensure success for the different groups.
Tuscarora High School has teachers that care and are willing to help however needed. I'd like to thank them (and all teachers and administrators) for all they do, especially during these tough times. Thank you, amazing teachers!
As a junior, I would say, both the best and worst aspect of the school is the teachers. There are several teachers that are absolutely amazing, and do the absolute best for their students, while providing great teaching and help. There are other teachers that can be quite disrespectful, or just really bad at teaching in general, and aren’t very helpful. There are several courses you can take from SAT prep, to accounting, to Microsoft certification, art, music, bio medical programs, psychology, etc. along with some being from the local community college. School spirit is very high, and students often show a lot of support for the school sports, clubs, events, and fundraisers, including a strong SGA. The diversity is great as well, as there are several different cultures that attend the school and that are very welcomed in the school. The school is a pretty good school, but some of the teachers give it the reputation it has, along with a poorly inefficient administration.
