Tuscaloosa Academy is a great school. A good school for academics. I like how this school introduces the ACT to you at a young age, you start taking the ACT in 7th grade. I also like how you can have a connection with your grade and have a great bond with your teachers. The classes and teachers pushing you to be great and understand things. One thing I would like to change is more diversity in the school and more ethnical appreciation. Overall, it's great.
I liked the atmosphere and that it was a CP (college prepatory) school. I also very much enjoyed the sports there. Games were always exciting, whether it was basketball, football, etc. One thing I didn't like is that it was such a small school so your business was pretty much everyone's.
TA is a very good school, esp. when compared to nearby public & private schools. TA is a college prep school, and rare is the senior class that does not have a 100% graduation rate with every graduate going on to college. Academics are better at TA than the alternatives (including Northridge, ACA and Holy Spirit). Unlike the Tuscaloosa city and county schools, TA uses textbooks in all core middle & high school classes. TA has an excellent student-to-teacher ratio & small classes. Many teachers will help students before & after school & during planning periods. TA is very safe & disciplinary issues are minimal in all grades (K-12). TA has a strong athletic program that offers football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, cross-country, track, golf, tennis, cheer, etc., and TA usually wins. TA also offers many non-sports extracurricular activities. I have no doubt that my child who recently graduated from TA is well-prepared for college & life in large part because of TA.
