If you are an academically focused family, but also want your children to have a well balanced school life, this is the school to attend. I have researched a lot of great elementary schools in many excellent districts throughout the US, for our family, settling in a neighborhood within a quick walk to this school has been the best decision. Yes, the classrooms are cramped and the campus isn’t at all shiny and new. The education, teacher quality and student-body quality the school offers is simply unparalleled. It’s definitely not for everyone... I am glad we are here for sure.
An amazing school!! Our daughter graduated from this school this year. The teachers were awesome..4th, 5th and 6th grade. They prepare the children for middle school. It is very academic and have lots of opportunities to learn. They focus on presentation and communication skills right from grade 4. The teachers are very hard working and dedicated. They have inspired confidence in the kids to participate and contribute. They have always provided good advice related to academics. They also have lot of fun in the class and makes the school a very fun and positive experience.
Overall, a very good school! The up and downside to a school located near a University, is that the academic bar is set very high. The,”up” side is that your child will be pushed to their fullest capabilities.... the down side is that the academic bar is set super high, that your average/ above average student can fall short with state based, GATE, or APPAS test scores. Example, you take an average to an accelerated learner who is well rounded, but isn’t enrolled in afterschool academic classes vs one that is... your student will more than likely be edged out at the chance of placing in a higher learning bracket. Other districts may give more opportunities for a strong student to place in a GATE program etc!
