Honestly has some really great creatives and genuinely nice people among the staff and students that's muddled by the annoying and arrogance that makes up most of the student body. The 'school spirit' is very lacking but it doesn't usually affect how you learn; a large chunk of the teachers are invested in both their subject and their students so that, if you actually pay attention, it helps you learn a lot of new information. Campus itself isn't horrible, though it's cramped next to neighborhoods so the traffic's awful, and there's NO walkable places to hang out during lunches which sucked especially as an underclassmen
Tualatin High School is a great high school I am thankful to have attended for four years. This school has a great amount of school spirit, we love sports and take them very seriously. I was constantly surrounded by very motivated individuals who were excited to attend a university in order to gain knowledge, and receive the degree we deserve. As difficult as high school can be in general, all the difference personalities and individuals I met and was stuck with for four years have helped shape me into the independent, strong person I am today. The staff is amazing, very entertaining and smart-minded individuals who want to see us thrive in our futures. The school also provided many resources that were so helpful whether it be scholarships, assistance applying for college, or simply food/clothing supplies for students and families in need. I am very thankful to have received the education I did, and make connections with others as I did!
Overall, I had a pretty hard time at Tualatin due to administration. There was an incident with my varsity cheer team my junior year after COVID, and new coaches were abusing their power, and none of the administration did anything about it after me and many other girls quit the team. These girls and myself felt very ignored and not a part of our school’s community. Coming back to school with this happening after not being in school for a year and a half due to online school made me feel very lonely, and I felt like I had no one to go to since the admin clearly didn’t care about my well being. After this difficult year, I went into senior year hoping to be at Tualatin High School for as least time as possible, while still being able to graduate with honors. The teachers at Tualatin are incredibly supportive, and the few teachers I had during my senior year made an impact of my life positively. It’s a shame that the admin cannot reflect this support of the students.
