I loved Transmountain Early College, or TMECHS on campus. Thanks to smaller class sizes, we had more detailed and closer relationships not only with our teachers but also with our classmates. A close-knit group of friends made the high school experience unforgettable. The campus has no buildings, and instead is made up of portables, so students were able to enjoy the outdoors all day, every day. There is a great deal of diversity, with students and teachers from all over the place and with very different backgrounds, sexual orientations, and ethnicities. Everyone is so open and compassionate and caring. Although sometimes academics can get a bit competitive, we are all friends in the end and encourage teamwork. Now I can go to university and really dive into the college experience knowing what to expect thanks to the dual enrollment at TMECHS.
It was an incredible experience to have attended such tiny school and yet we had many things that usually come with a traditional high school. There's some downsides, such s being out in the desert and being in portable classrooms meaning that in bad weather we were always getting sunburn or wet by the rain. None the less, graduating with a diploma and college degree was the greatest experience ever!
This high school is probably the best school you could ever attend if you live in the El Paso area and are looking to have an early start at your college education and future career. While you might have to sacrifice the overall feel of typical high school football games, there is no other experience that compares to the experience of being a maverick here at TMECHS. The teachers are fantastic, the students are all goal-oriented, and with the smaller capacity, you build relationships unlike any other. There's no pressure here to do anything you wouldn't want to do and the community here only motivates you to work even harder than you did before. I would recommend this school to anyone who asks and I'll truly never forget the memories made in the small portables filled with students eager to make a change in the world around them.
