My experience in High School South has been wanting thanks to mismanagement by the administrators, poorly made curriculums, a general apathy towards work by the staff, and a particularly useless school board. TRHSS lacks a functional air conditioning system, a detriment in the hotter months, and the funds that should have gone to its installation were instead earmarked for use in renovating administrative facilities. The schools as a whole, and South in particular, are woefully mismanaged and run in a truly lackadaisical manner.
I would like for the school system to be privatized. All extant assets and buildings could be sold and the schools moved to an existing abandoned mall complex. This would cut costs dramatically. Where public workers are concerned with only collecting their salaries and killing time, private workers have a motivation to perform, and so will be far superior to their government counterparts. Privatization is the way to go.

The school spirit is unlike I've seen before. The school as a whole strives to support their athletics! A downside to South are the teachers, though. Some truly care but others do not and its upsetting. Either way, South is an average school at best.
If you can think of one word for Toms River South, it is spirit. We are the most spirited school that I can think of. Sure, our football team sucks, but does that stop us? No. Our atmosphere is so accepting, and honestly, I have never seen bullying in my four years of being here. We are also downtown, which is a big plus because that means everyone can go down for lunch. And I have never heard of any serious issues from students going out for lunch. The teachers overall are good, and all of the ones I had were always open for extra help or to talk to, granted I was in the AP classes. The main issue we have is that New Jersey is cutting our aid, so we may lose all of this; the sports, the dances, the Friday night lights. What sets us apart from other schools is that we are not just a school. We are a community. We are a family. We are a tribe. When picking my college, the main thing I looked for was could it mirror my high school. I would not want to be in a different environment.
