Student life is great, and there is a genuine familial feel.

However, that is where the above average stops.

The facilities are decent overall, but the areas that are struggling are truly struggling. The heating system recently got fixed for the first time in what feels like years, as well as the locker rooms being completely outdated. The softball field is below average, and the tennis courts are so bad that the team looks to have gone to another facility to play their games.

The only subject that is well-rounded and exceptional is the English department. The science department is extremely lacking, as are the lower math classes. The curriculum is far from college preparatory.

The special education classes don’t appear to be up to par, and appear to ignore the behavior and going so far as to reprimand the victims (from personal experience).

Overall, an average school with beyond average aspects, but appears to worry more about recruiting students, rather than keeping them.

Tomales High School was a tiny school which held up to only about 200 people. Being that it was so small, it was no wonder that students were able to come together and become close with another as the years progressed. On the other hand, being that it was such a small school, there were only so many resources and opportunities that would be offered. Some of the teachers were inadequate and the classes that were provided weren't rigorous enough to prepare someone for a college division class. I would like to see Tomales High School try to improve on incorporating a more rigorous curriculum.
I would like to say that Tomales High School, or THS, is a great education establishment. In 2016, the graduating class was of 22 students in a school of 186 students together. This school focuses on Ag, FFA (or Future Farmers of America), and the relationship to students to make sure that the students pass.
