Toledo School for the Arts gave me many gifts, the greatest of these being the gift of music. Thanks to the hardworking and creative instructors (who mind you, make considerably less in wages compared to neighboring public schools), I can proudly say that I am better as a person. I am creative, positive, thoughtful, respectful, and diligent. After I left that school I got an interview for every job I applied for, and help from alumni working at every college I looked into. I was helped every step of the way. The school builds character through hard work and it builds discipline through the arts, the way every high school should.
I have been at Toledo School for the Arts since sixth grade, and I have received a stellar education in both academics and the arts. Although I have specifically pursued a major in theatre/musical theatre, TSA has allowed me to also explore interests in other arts areas such as music and creative writing. The teachers are kind and supportive instructors, but also amazing mentors. My acting teachers have given me every opportunity to grow as a performer, and I would credit much of my confidence to pursue a career in theatre to their commitment to me over the years. The TSA community has been a place where I have been not only welcomed but encouraged to be myself in every sense of the word. Everyone is very open and accepting, and people that are not tend to be the odd ones out. I am so grateful for every experience that I have had at Toledo School for the Arts over the years with both staff and students.
