If you're looking for a place to be heavily involved in sports, cheer, theatre arts, clubs of all kinds, or advanced placement programs, Thurston High School is the place to be! It is well known for its success in extracurriculars and student involvement. The focus here is really student achievement, and that can not only be shown by how much the school has to offer, but by the supportive teachers on campus. There are opportunities for people of all different interests and backgrounds.
Thurston High School was honestly the best experience I could ask for. I loved the teachers, they were so inspiring and fun. There were some that were harder to learn from though, as with any group of teachers. The football games were my favorite things to attend. The coaches always produce an amazing team and the school really comes together over it. There are many extracurricular activities available to students as well. I liked how we had the opportunity to start our own clubs and do our part to make an impact according to what we believe in. Overall, the school is an amazing community with teachers that really care about their students. My counselor was one of the most influential people I’ve had in my life and I have heard that about the other counselors on campus too so I think there is really something to be said about how the people there make it the amazing school it is.
The school itself was okay. The building showed its age, the breezeways were terrible, but the teachers themselves were great. The lack of communication was blatantly obvious and really hurt everyone, including teachers. Events were not discussed nearly enough in advance, most important details were mentioned last minute, and even the details that were given were terrible and vague.
