TSA is a wonderful Christian based learning institution with engaged faculty and staff. Private schools give parents a choice in the level of education, instruction, and care their child receives. All schools, public and private have their share of ups and downs, but Thomas Sumter Academy has been an educational pillar in this community since 1966 and is still going strong. I am an alum with 12 years of education on "The Hill" which prepared me for my college career and BS and the real world. I chose to return to TSA with my 2 children so they could have the same educational and personal experiences as myself and we have not been disappointed! The faculty, staff, parents, and children continue to make this school excel and maintain the caring ambiance that is Thomas Sumter Academy. Go Generals!!!

I'd like for the school to undergo more renovations/improvement construction-wise. The sport programs are excellent (mostly cross country and track/field). The school is old, but it feels really grounded. It's not a school that tries to flex its muscles to show how rich the school and the parents are. It's a really down to earth school and the characteristics of the students, parents, faculty, and staff clearly convey that.
I have been going to Thomas Sumter since 1st grade. 1st-5th grade was great. Middle school brought problems though. The kids there are pretty harsh. You are either in a clique or you stay to yourself. My senior class was full of cliques. We never interacted as a class in a whole. Also, my senior year, the school brought in changes. We got a new headmaster, one in which is very strict. Complaint numbers went up about student behavior. Thomas Sumter isn’t as it was before. Honestly, I’m grateful to be out of Thomas Sumter.
