As a former student of TSKing, I've got to say, it was one of the best experiences. I was apart of the Gifted magnet for all 3 years and the courses are challenging. However, it truly helped shaped me as the student I am today. The teachers were kind and taught us the importance of time management and balancing out school work with daily life. Academics were amazing and top notch with the lessons provided. The teachers were also friendly and the classes were enjoyable. The school itself provides so many different cultures and people. We have an LGBTQ club and celebrate people coming out. We have music and activities during lunch every Wednesday-Friday. We have a student news channel where people can watch and students are involved in broadcasting, making segments, and even hosting events such as "King-Con" with a maze! We have a design lab with equipment such as laptops, ipads, tripods, virtual goggles, apple pens, etc. People can really participate and express their creativity!

As a student of TSK, I really enjoyed my experience there. For the most part, I had very good connections with all my teachers, and if I was struggling, I knew they would be there for me. King also offered me an extremely wide range of activities and opportunities. From the Gay Straight Alliance to the chess club, you can become an active member of change in this community. Just like every school, I had to navigate my way through students in order to find the perfect friend group for me. Now these friends stick by my side through up and threw down, making my experience at this school amazing.
Thomas Starr King is an excellent school. There are 3 different magnets at the school. From my experience, some magnets were better than others. The gifted magnet had students who were much prepared than the other magnets. Out of the other two, I feel film and media was worst on an academic level. Balance would have been much better between the none gifted magnets.
