My time at Wootton was great. Academically, it is definitely challenging and you get what you give. However, even as a very average Wootton student, I can see how much prepared I was for college than my peers from other schools and counties. I participated in many wootton sports, and while not every sport has an amazing record, the coaches are dedicated and care and some sports (golf, tennis hockey, and others) consistently win counties and states! As for clubs, I didn't participate much but I have friends/siblings who did and loved it. There is a wide variety and the opportunity to start new clubs if there isn't one already available. Overall, great experience.
Overall, Wootton gets the job done fairly well in terms of academics and extracurriculars, but it is in dire need of remodeling because the infrastructure and bathrooms are frankly horrendous. Additionally, many teachers are fantastic, but just as many are terrible at doing their job: teaching students. I have had a teacher prioritize coloring and using the right pen color when taking notes over actually learning the material, which just doesn’t sit right with me. But even with all of its flaws, a high school’s main objective is to have kids learn and Wootton’s students are some of the most academic kids in the entire country. All in all, Wootton is an above average high school that will help students learn and get into college, but students who attend will most likely not thrive due to the extremely competitive student body and constant pressure from the school’s faculty.
Wootton is one of the most exceptional schools in Montgomery County. They provide many opportunities for students to engage in academics through out-of- school clubs and in school activities. They provide any needed resources that students would need. Our staff does a good job making any pep rally or football game a great time! Teachers make themselves readily available for any student who needs help, our administrators and counselors are nothing but friendly and helpful to everyone. Wootton offers many great programs for students to excel in such as Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) or our Science, Technology, and Research Scholars (STARS) program. We also hold great theater performances year around. Personally, I have never once felt unsafe at Wootton. Our security guards are always walking around during classes and all doors around the school are locked during classes. Wootton is great school overall for any student! Go Patriots!
