Thomas Jefferson School is an outstanding gem in the midwest. Students attend from all over the world. That is learning in itself! The staff and faculty are committed to students and the academics are outstanding! Students learn both from traditional textbooks and also from communicating with outside sources such as the British Museum in London, original documents and more. They are taught to think, solve problems and fall in love with learning.

Thomas Jefferson School provides unique learning opportunities that can't be found at any other schools. The small size allows students to participate in classes and be heard by the faculty. Even as a day student, I get the chance to 'live' in a dorm and interact with boarding life. I am not going to be a D1 athlete, but TJ gives me the opportunity to expand my skills and compete within the conference. To me, the athletics at TJS are appropriate and VERY valued!
The school isn’t bad by any means, but the small size and campus limits what resources are provided. The physical place isn’t bad, there’s a unique charm to it, but maintenance issues usually persist for a while and good campus upgrades are practically nonexistent. People complain about the sports, but I’ve never found them to be disappointing. The arts are rather lacking though, for outside of the required classes you pretty much have no way to study the specifics you’re interested in. Academics are fine, the short classes make sure you don’t feel overwhelmed, but the amount of work you’re expected to do is rather strenuous.
