I really liked that it felt like a welcoming environment. The teachers were helpful and supported students in their ambitions. There were multiple after school clubs and sports that students could join the get to know one another as well. The only downside was that the building was really old and during winters heaters would not work. However there is a new building now and those issues are long gone. Otherwise, the education itself is very challenging and worthwhile!
I had a great time in my 4 years attending Thomas Jefferson Highschool. There are a lot of programs and classes that can help you for your future. They have a program called Puget Sound Skills Center (PSSC) that helps you learn and gain skills for future jobs that you would be interested in. I also like how diverse the school is. You get to meet a lot of people from different cultures and different places around the world. The clubs and sports are very inclusive and let anyone that are interested in it join, and if you don’t see a club you like you can make your own. This school really helps and dedicates everything they do to help every student succeed for after they graduate.
The TJ environment is founded on inclusiveness and support. Students and staff involve themselves to make our community more united while doing our best to set ourselves on the right path. With a primarily IB focused curriculum, the majority of teachers demonstrate their care by offering their guidance, even as the rigor progresses. Our Leadership department in particular enables students to realize their potential and the benefit of helping one another. The TJ spirit is remarkable, as seen through our numerous reputable clubs and school members. TJ is a public school after all, so the academics could improve in certain aspects such as Math & World Language, but the joy our Raiders exert makes the journey much more enjoyable.
