The Woodward School is by far one of the best all girls schools in all of Massachusetts. Their teachers are top notch and their curriculum is fun while also very educational. Many of the teachers write their own curriculum and they do such an amazing job of it. They also really include the students in decisions. For example when they were choosing a new head of school they let the students meet the candidate and ask him/her/them questions about what they plan to do for the school, how they would handle specific problems, even just their opinion on snow days, also if they support the LGBTQ community. The Woodward school is very supportive of the LGBTQ community they have many students who are part of the LGBTQ community as well as some teachers! The Woodward school does many great things for the community for example our animal welfare club collected toys and treats for the nearby dog shelters, and our environmental club has done numerous things for the community and the school.
As a graduating senior, I have loved my experience at Woodward! My favorite class out of my high school journey would have to be my 11th-grade history class with Mr. Fouriner, one of our humanities and social studies teachers. He helped me improve my writing skill through my Founder's Paper, a well-known tradition that Woodward cherishes. I am so glad I have a teacher AND an advisor to aid me through not only my history writing process but also supported me in running our environmental club. From the supportive faculty members to the rigorous academic, it is safe to say that the school not only prepare me for my college career but also through life endeavors.
My time at Woodward was bittersweet. I graduated in the late 2010’s, so within the last few years. The academics? I learned a lot. The humanities at Woodward are incredible! I felt ready for college. The people? it depends. The staff are either really great or really poor. Some of the most influential people in my life are teachers that I met at Woodward. However, when you put 80-100 11-18 year old girls in a small, cramped building for 8 hours a day? It was not my favorite thing in the world. It’s very cliquey. If you stray from “the norm,” you will (more likely than not) get bullied. If you’re LGBT, be wary. Trans/NB students have it rough here. A good portion of the staff are pretty old and conservative, and won’t call you by the correct name/pronouns.
