COlLABs: Study What Makes You Curious

Unlimited Electives: ColLABs mean that each year every student has the opportunity to take an idea and design an internship or independent study. Your elective choices are only limited by your curiosity. Study the American Revolution in the heart of Massachusetts or street art in New York City, or design a new product and walk away with an investment on Shark Tank.

I have loved my high school years at the Winchendon school. The education was phenomenal and the opportunities I had are like no other school. I took part in different colabs which involved living as a homeless person, recycling wood from the forest into furniture pieces, up cycling clothes to trendy styles and traveling to Georgia to work in a non profit. I feel if I was in a public high school I wouldn’t have had these opportunities. It really changed my outlook and my passion. I would highly recommend the Winchendon school to anyone who is looking to get more than just a standard education!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Wapiti for the past two years, years that I will never forget. What people do not understand while they are attending the Winchendon School is that they are creating relationships that they will keep for the rest of their lives. The people at this school are so caring and wanting the best for you; it's just up to you to make the best of the opportunity. Whether that opportunity is a creative program, an AP class, or a competitive sport, the Winchendon School faculty and culture allows for people to succeed under any circumstances. I came here looking to extend my career as a hockey player, but instead I found myself more as a person, growing into more of an adult, making a decision that will change my life in the future. Instead of taking the route of going to juniors, I decided that I would go straight into college and focus on my education. Although competitive hockey is now over, I fully thank the Winchendon School for a great time!
I have loved being a part of The Winchendon School. Our Executive Director is a visionary, and the faculty and staff are warm, caring, and professional. The community is a small, safe, and nurturing one for students, and the faculty challenge students to be their best and to take appropriate risks. The students come from all over the world and from many different states. Whether freshmen or post-graduates, they find value in the small classes, the co-curricular activities and athletics, the Service Learning and ColLAB programs, and the regular opportunities for self-reflection and feedback. Our alumni visit the School(s) whenever they can, and they love hearing the news about the satellite campus growth. The Winch is a great place, whether in Winchendon or in Brooklyn!
