Williams' Lab School philosophy prioritizes innovation in teaching and learning. Our instruction is adaptive, creative, and cutting-edge, and our students are prepared for a world of constant change and endless possibilities.
Williams currently serves diverse Kindergarten through Grade 8 students from across the Hampton Roads area. We are excited to open a Pre-Kindergarten 3 & 4 program in June 2023.

The Williams Preschool: Opening June 2023
The Williams Preschool, an art and music program for 3 & 4-year olds, will be located at Christ & St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The building features an open, flexible space for project-based and outdoor learning. Collaborative learning spaces will include pottery/clay, art, music, interactive technology, literacy, math, science, construction, and dramatic play. Now accepting applications!

I attended The Williams School (TWS) in Ghent from second to eighth grade. It is without a doubt the most special and most rewarding educational experience I have had throughout my academic career which, to date, spans an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree. Small class sizes foster deep, long-lasting connections with peers, teachers, and other faculty and stimulate creative learning across the board. Faculty at TWS truly go above and beyond for each student and work tirelessly to make sure each student's individual needs are met. Their dedication builds a level of trust in other and in self that further empowers students to be proactive not only in their education, but also in their personal and social development. TWS provides extracurricular opportunities during a pivotal developmental period that, at larger schools, students may frankly not have the opportunity to fully experience (athletics, forensics, music); students are completely immersed. Truly a magnificent school!
The Williams School provides a well-rounded learning experience. A low teacher-student ratio enables the staff to meet the students where they are and encourage them to challenge themselves and explore the world around them. Collaboration between teachers provides exceptional learning opportunities across the curriculum and between grades. our eighth graders are well-prepared for whatever high school programs they choose and they become leaders at those schools. Even as they leave us, their roots to Williams are strong and friendships forged in elementary grades continue through college and beyond. Williams is a wonderful place to learn and work!
I attended The Williams School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. With small class sizes and encouraging faculty, I felt the support and space to explore areas of interest and figure out what was important to me. I gained confidence both academically and in extracurricular activities, which helped me succeed in high school, college, and now in my career. The curricula may have changed in the 15 years since I graduated, but I'm certain the school's emphasis on kindness, compassion, and high ethical standards remains -- as do some of the teachers I had there! Williams fostered my curiosity and confidence and helped me become a good citizen of my community. I'm proud to have gone there.
