The Westminster School at Oak Mountain Reviews
Rating 4.24 out of 5 37 reviews
The teachers here are absolutely amazing! They go out of their way to educate and make connections with every individual strident. However, there are many shortcomings with the school as a whole. Administration has been lackluster over the course of the last several years that made my high school experience much more stressful and overwhelming than it should have been. Many teacher’s were randomly fired, classes were trashed or radically changed in the middle of the year, and all of this was done with no explanation before or after decisions were made. I have hope that the administration will improve considering that many teachers were against many decisions and went out of their way to make their voices heard. One significant flaw that I do not see going away is the student culture. The majority of the students at this school come from money and they make it known. It may only be one or two students that start being toxic about it, but once one person starts, many follow suit.
Westminster has surpassed all expectations my husband and I had for our sons kindergarten education. The decision to educate our son at home or to send him to a formal school was no longer a question after we toured the school and saw the genuine love and respect the staff and students mutually shared with each other. The inclusion of instructional support teachers for every grade is also a huge supplement to the school that we were unaware of prior to the school tour. It gave my husband and I peace to know someone was working one on one with our child each day outside of the normal classroom to build up his strengths and find weaknesses at an early age. My son has grown leaps and bounds this year spiritually, academically and socially, he can find truths of scripture in every activity he performs, and in all the work he completes! Westminster truly gifts every child an extraordinary education, an investment that will last a lifetime!
The partnership between the teachers and the parents at Westminster is special. I truly feel as though my children are known and loved well. The way the gospel is woven into everything my children are learning makes me grateful beyond measure. The academics are challenging, but attainable, and the teachers' ability to make learning new things relevant and fun amazes me! I am so thankful for this school. It has been a blessing to me and to my family.
