Six years ago I was searching for the best environment for my son to begin kindergarten. I attended several open houses and parent visit days at Waterford and other schools before making my final decision. I haven't regretted a minute of my past five years as a Waterford parent. On any given day I can walk down the hall passing by administration and teachers alike who always take a moment to greet my son and I with a genuine warm hello --using our names as they speak to us--they are truly family! I know my son is safe, cared for, happy and is learning in an incredible school. The level of education in lower school is just as valued and just as excellent and challenging as the upper school. My son loves to learn and he is thriving at Waterford. I look forward to the next six years as he continues his education at Waterford. Education is a priority to me, and a true liberal arts curriculum is difficult to find these days. I am honored to be part of the Waterford experience!

Without a doubt, Waterford has been the easiest part of our transition from Florida to Utah! This past August we moved to Salt Lake City with our incoming freshman son. Having been a student, teacher, and parent in independent schools, I had high expectations. One thing that sets Waterford apart is the faculty and staff. They genuinely know my child. He is new, but they do. They also care as I h about him as they do his success in the classroom. Another thing that stands out is the culture. The student body is very welcoming, and diverse for Utah. I have never been on another campus where the students are so free to be themselves. I firmly believe this adds to the inclusive and so much less stressed atmosphere. For us, that has been the biggest change. While Waterford is every bit as challenging as his old school, the supportive culture there makes all the difference. We could not have chosen a better place.
I honestly can’t thank Waterford enough for everything it has given me. I started here as a kindergartner, full of curiosity and eager to begin school. And now, looking back, it’s humbling to reflect on the 12 years of support the Waterford community has given me. I have never once left a classroom feeling underwhelmed or disgruntled. I distinctly remember leaving my very first English class of Freshman year in the midst of a paradigm shift due to a packet about normality as defined by Foucault. I truly believe that Waterford is one of the few schools that cares about true learning rather than teaching to a test. While it has a heavier emphasis on academics, Waterford looks out for its students’ mental, physical and social well-being via lunchtime activities i.e. Four Square and, my personal favorite, lunchtime lecturers. There is never an absence of something to do, learn, or get involved in. Can’t thank Waterford enough for an amazing education!
