A few years ago, I had questions about my experience in public high school. I wanted to get more out of my education than memorizing facts to get a good grade on the test. Right around the same time, one of my teachers told me about a school named Waldorf. After hearing that word a few times that month, I searched it up on google. To my delight, I couldn't believe a school like this exists! I told my parents about it right away and nagged them until they signed up for a school tour. One thing leads to the next, and I have grown in so many ways since I joined Waldorf! Not only academically, but as an upright human being getting ready to enter the world. The teachers are intentional in the way each seed of knowledge offered to the students. If there is one word which summarizes my experience, it would be beautiful.
I don't know where to begin. I like how I see my kids growing as creative, thinking, capable people who are developing a strong sense of self, perspective, and relationship to everyone and everything around them. They are engaged and eager to learn, and become more so as they get older, through High School and on to college. The teachers are DEDICATED, caring, and good. The curriculum is deep.
The Waldorf curriculum is incredibly unique and provides its students with a framework to engage in deep and independent thought. The teachers are very dedicated and invested in the academic and personal growth of their students.
I am amazed by the results of this educational philosophy. The children that go out into the world from Waldorf are well rounded, environmentally conscious, creative thinkers. They will be the impact for positive change for our future.
I am extremely grateful for the care, attention, and thought that have shaped my experience as a student here. I have attended my whole life and there is very little I would change about my experience, the main thing being a lack of diversity.
I felt that there should be more emphasis on science. In terms of teachers, I think that the staff should hear the students point of view when hiring teachers and not let their own prejudices and negative emotions make the decisions for them. A high school main goal is to serve students.
Amazing community. My children are happy every day to go to school, and the unique learning technique fits our family. I feel the teachers are so engaged and know my children and address each child's different learning style. The school has an organic lunch program, and as my children move from early childhood and lower grades, academics have become a substantial part of their curriculum. I was worried the athletics program initially, but my children are excelling in sports through extracurricular programs.
Our family discovered Waldorf when our daughter was in High School - but I wish my kids had the opportunity to start when they were little! It’s not just a school for us but a thriving, inclusive community. We've had an outstanding experience with my high school student- who started high school after attending public schools from Kinder. She’s now getting ready for college and has done very well on the SAT and feels prepared. The teachers are truly invested in developing lifelong learners and give every student personal attention. The students themselves are incredibly confident and inquisitive and very accepting of new students. My child has blossomed under the care of Waldorf. She thought she wasn’t a “math student” but is now loving calculus! Can’t say enough good things!
I attended the Waldorf School of San Diego from Kindergarten through Grade 12 and wouldn’t have changed a thing! This education really changes your perspective on the world and allows not only your mind to learn, but the heart and hands as well. Truly a well rounded, thoughtful, inspiring education.
I really do love attending this school, it is the best education I could possibly give myself. The teachers are kind and helpful, everyone in the community is respectful. I would recommend it for those who are looking for more in an education.
Such a fantastic experience. I was a skeptic coming from a technical background, it's not just what you learn, but how you learn it that can lead to superior results. My interactions with my sons and the children we meet continue to reinforce that we are on the right path. Their confidence and enthusiasm for learning is widespread. The philosophy and thoughtfulness that goes into the teaching style and development decisions. The more I learn, the more I am convinced this is the right choice for my family. The path towards learning is unique, leading to the same level of academic standards, but also supporting the development of a more humble, mindful, confident, thoughtful, emotionally intelligent, and spiritual person. It's the simple things that add up - I love that they shake hands with my children and look them in the eye every day. I love that they immerse the children in foreign languages, both culturally and aurally. They offer organic hot lunch. The school is excellent.
The Waldorf experience was wonderful for me. The ways in which their curriculum is uniquely conceived enabled me to become fascinated in a wide variety of subjects, from blacksmithing to light physics, watercolor to Russian literature. I feel as if I have obtained a very well rounded education from this school. It is a newer school and is still in a developing phase, continually adding programs and resources. That being said I am glad I attended.
I wouldn't want to go to any other school.
Dress code used to be way too strict but it's lessened now.
There's no nurse or security but since its so small it doesn't really matter.
The only sports teams we have are surfing and ultimate frisbee. We have an anime club and a drama club. If you're really into clubs and sports either be prepared to be disappointed or start your own.
We don't have a principal because of our unique curriculum. All the staff and faculty are very helpful in all kinds of situations. The dress code is pretty simple, and easy to follow.
