From The Walden School

Founded in 1967, The Walden School takes the responsibility of educating children seriously and passionately. Rooted in Montessori philosophy, students are guided through their educational experiences by dedicated and well-trained teachers who empower the students.

The balance of academics and social-emotional learning helps our students understand the connections we have to each other.

My son joined The Walden School in middle school. Coming from a smaller elementary school we were hoping he'd choose The Walden School over the public middle school due to its size and stellar reputation in the community. Luckily, he wanted to attend Walden after even the first visit! Everyone from the support staff to the classroom teachers have been kind, welcoming, and supportive. When I think of how we're trying to raise our son I feel confident The Walden School mirrors our values and morals. They instill virtues such as empathy and kindness all within a less pressure, but nonetheless solid and challenging academic program. This school has so many positives- a tight knit community, lovely staff, a focus on the individual needs of each child, and even yummy lunch choices. A bonus is we love seeing him happy at recess and on the playground still...something most middle schools do away with. We are very pleased, and highly recommend this school to anyone considering it!

Review The Walden School

We cannot say enough about the Walden School. Our daughter started there three days a week at the age of 2 1/2. She is currently in kindergarten there. She loves it and we couldn’t be happier. The teachers and administration are extremely caring, the families are very involved, and there’s a very positive, open and accepting attitude amongst all. Furthermore the academics of the preschool and kindergarten program is exactly on target and appropriate. Montessori is a brilliant philosophy of education and the Walden School embraces it wholeheartedly. It allows student to discover the world around them and develop a healthy love of learning. Our daughter has grown into an enthusiastic and dedicated student who loves school at Walden. We are not only proud of how she has grown, but we are also proud of the school she attends. It has become her second home!

As a parent of a current kindergartener, who started at Walden 4 years ago, we are thrilled with our experiences and education. The Walden faculty and staff are warm, generous with their time, and have fostered a love of learning and independence in my children. My older son only attended Walden for one year (kindergarten), while my younger son did the parent/child Learning Together class for one year, followed by pre-school, and now kindergarten. There is a clear difference in how well prepared my younger son is for 1st grade compared to my older son who only spent one year there. My son takes great pride in showing us what he learns in school and in contributing at home to "make our house beautiful." His teachers are some of the kindest people I've ever met in my life. There's not enough space to say all of the wonderful things! We strive to live the Montessori lifestyle at home, and the school has helped us do so while teaching our children kindness, respect, and peace.
