From The School in Rose Valley

The School in Rose Valley is a progressive school for children in preschool through sixth grade. In our classrooms and our wooded campus, teachers and students create experiences that arouse curiosity, stretch muscles, strengthen initiative, and stimulate questions. We guide children to know themselves, to delight in learning, and to understand their opportunities and responsibilities in our community and the world.

The School in Rose Valley respects childhood and values democracy, diversity, and sustainability.

Children’s perspectives and needs inform all aspects of our school. We believe that children should develop balance in body and mind through intensive classroom study, quiet time, vigorous play, experiences of the natural world, and reflection on our role as its stewards.

This school is everything I ever wanted for my children. The culture and environment are calm and supportive, focusing on a love of learning and community. It has helped my son love school again after a traumatic time in public elementary. He is less anxious and I have seen him blossom in his problem solving and confidence. My 4 year old daughter now constantly sings around the house in Spanish and developed a true love of painting and cooking. She was a kid that cried the first time she touched grass and snow and now she rolls around in the grass, gardens, and plays outside whenever she can. They provide generous outdoor time playing and learning about nature. The first time I took a tour of campus, I wished I could go there too.

I appreciated that my children had an intentional balance of learning through work and play that was curricularly driven through their authentic interests, which naturally stirred their intrinsic motivation. I also love that my children got to play outside every single day.
SRV has been a fantastic choice for our family. Our daughters are developing independent critical thinking skills, socio-emotional skills, self-advocacy skills, and a love of learning— the teachers are excellent and supportive, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience.
