Nothing wrong per se with Prout; it is just much weaker than all other Catholic high schools in Rhode Island in every category...academics...arts...and especially athletics. Hendricken and LaSalle are much better choices for a strong Catholic and college preparatory education for your children. Prout isn't a bad school, but there are SO many better options that are much closer! We are so glad that we chose not to send our kids here, as they are thriving in ways that they would almost certainly not be at a school like Prout with only average academics, a poor student to teacher ratio, not enough emphasis on Catholic morality, and most importantly, extremely mediocre athletics.

The Prout School advertises diversity within its student body and yet has perhaps 4 out of 400 students from different ethnic backgrounds. The school environment, established by the students, is insanely negative; if you do not fit the "Prout mold," or advertise yourself sexually on social media and drink on school grounds, you are instantly rejected by the community. The teachers work incredibly hard and deserve a better educational climate.
Many of the kids that go to the school in class, are very immature. You see that happen with multiple issues happening in two particular sports involving disciplinary situations. Teachers at the school work hard and want you to achieve, but with immature kids and no discipline at all, due to administration changes there is no discipline at all. Kids do whatever they want this year and are very self centered.Immaturity shows the results in some sports programs, by showing some of the teams they suck due to immaturity. If you want to go to a school where students respect each other and do not judge you, you should not go to this school. Go to a good school like Hendricken.
