The Overlake School Reviews
Rating 4.37 out of 5 95 reviews
Overlake is a top 3 private school in the greater Seattle area. It caters more to the eastside area of Greater Seattle (Bellevue, Redmond, etc) since it is located in a secluded area in Redmond, WA. It has excellent facilities and is very safe environment for students.
My daughter has many clubs she can participate in and the school encourages any student to start their own (like a rubik cube club). The students are mainly selected by their academics it seems and thus the students need to work hard to do well.
Currently the school has gotten a new headmaster. But overall their isn't much faculty turnover. Both of my daughters teachers have stayed almost 20 years each. The class sizes are small and thus everyone gets to know each other. My daughter is very happy with the school and participates in several clubs. She is happy that her fellow classmates tend to take their academics more seriously.

Overlake so far has been an overall positive experience with great extracurriculars, with at least some opportunities in almost all fields, as well as mostly great teachers. However, because of the work load, making meaningful connections is increasingly hard, student culture is lacking, and kids willingly come to school sick even when infectious because they can't afford to risk a day of school off because of the amount of work they would need to make up, which puts others at risk.
Overall, the Overlake School is great for students. Students are typically 2+ years ahead of the public school curriculum, and everyone is welcoming and friendly. However, one thing to note is that the gossip and drama in the school is intense, and everyone is extremely liberal--to the point where conservatives are sometimes even hated and frowned upon. The middle school, while better than public schools, isn't as good as I expected when I first entered. There's obviously a large increase in academic professionalism the second you enter high school--teachers are noticeably more proficient in their subject and are focused on prepping you for college. I would rate the school 4/5 stars total. It's a good school, but there's room for improvement.
