The Nueva School Reviews

The main appeal of the Upper Nueva School is the quality of education. A remarkably low teacher-to-student ratio ensures that each student receives a personalized, tailored, and accessible educational plan with a well-defined expectation of success.

Beyond this, students have vast educational freedom. People have access to an extensive library, couches or isolated workspaces, and peer help. Outside of midterm and finals week, I complete my homework at school more often than not.

The main drawback is that the administration tries too hard to differentiate us from similar schools. For example, during finals week, the administration took 25 minutes to unravel a massive yarn ball- literally- and connect it to 400+ student. When people tried to chat with friends, we were shut up. When introverts reached for their phones, stern faculty yanked them away. We do something like this every Monday.

A remarkable school in terms of education, but the administration is downright terrible.

This school is awesome! They give you a lot of freedom while learning a lot. They help prepare you while making classes and acitivites fun. No busy work for homework, all homework helps you grasp the material. Also the teachers are amazing and students are amazing. We go on school trips, starting at Peru, Costa Rica then trips in America. And the first year they want you to get a grasp of the content so you don't have grades that go in the college transcript.
Prior to eighth grade, my experience was positive to neutral. However, that quickly dropped to negative starting from the end of seventh grade (in which we learned very little). With no way to track how we are doing (ie. no grades, no relevant tests, low expectations and evaluations with very little information), it is almost impossible to learn. There is very little motivation from the student body, most of whom will attend Stanford and never work a day in their life. Eighth grade was very bad. The classes were repetitive and not worth paying so much for. They assumed assistant teachers could handle a middle school class. The students admitted were perverted and shared a lack of motivation. Teachers pets and kids that love to share how rich they are litter the school. There are a few lights in the tunnel.
