Student-Teacher/Admin relationships in NOW Academy are tight—people greet you as you come in everyday, and there’s a pretty friendly atmosphere from the staff! I’ve watched “unruly” and lost sixth grade classmates grow into young adults that care about helping their communities and they want to go to college. Most of us in NOW Academy are low income minorities—and having a truly diverse staff showed many of us that the way up through education is doable.

I really enjoy going to NOW Academy At Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools. The administration is really helpful to all students and most faculty members know every student by name. I feel as if I am being challenged to do my best in all of my work and am encouraged rather than forced to take college as a serious option. The student environment is very supportive and bullying is rare, but properly taken care of when it happens to occur. One thing I would like to see change at my school is more sports teams and over all school spirit. There is not a football team at my school and I feel as if I’m missing a part of the high school experience. Consequently, there is a lack of school spirit for sports. However, my friends and I always encourage our peers to show school pride and recently it has been working.
The teachers in NOW Academy are unique. Each and every one of them have their quirks, quirks which are especially prominent when they teach. Some teachers like to make their lessons really fun, relaxed and informative as well as remaining practical while others prefer lessons that are more informational and rigid. If there is one thing that most, if not all of them have, is that they take an interests in their students, and they CARE. (I would italicize the word care, but that option was unavailable).

The teachers that I have been with all know their subjects well, and even when they are not masters of their subject, they take classes, read and learn what they can of that subject. They do their best to make sure that what their students are learning are optimal, and are always approachable to offer support when needed, schedule a session, or point students in the right direction when they show interest.

NOW teachers understand that they are teachers. They have a responsibility to share their knowledge with their students, and to their best for them. Arguably, no teacher in NOW allows their students to do nothing. Lessons are planned well, and students are never to go about with spending their time without an assigned task. Teachers communicate well, are very friendly and are easy to strike conversations with. They provide as much of their help to academically struggling students, English Language Learners, and students who disrupts class.

Well, as for grading--our school uses Engrade to evaluate grades, and teachers are conceivably fair in grading.

Overall, NOW has amazing teachers, and we are lucky to have them.
