The New School of Northern Virginia Reviews
Rating 4.21 out of 5 29 reviews
The teachers were great; they worked with students to make sure everybody was was doing the best they could, and they all genuinely enjoyed what they were teaching. The whole school environment was supportive of students' self expression and creativity. The classes were unique and engaging, with specific fascinating topics.
Both of our kids started at The New School in ninth grade, after eight years of public school. It was one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. Everything about this school is terrific. The teachers are passionate, inspired, and inspiring. Small, topics-driven, seminar-style classes foster creativity and independent thinking, while the welcoming atmosphere makes everyone feel at home. Our two kids turned out to be very different kinds of learners, but both thrived at The New School. Our youngest graduates next year, and we'll be sad to think of not having that day-to-day connection. Can't say enough about this wonderful school!
Our son is now a freshman at The New School, and we are thrilled at his academic, emotional, and social development over the last two years. There is an atmosphere of caring and kindness at the school. The small class sizes and encouragement to speak up and be a crucial part in the learning process have helped our son to develop his "voice." The teachers encourage students with consistent feedback and guidance to become responsible participants in their education and in life-long learning. The relationships our son is building with his teachers, classmates, and the administration have made such a difference in his self-confidence, work-ethic, and overall approach to his education and future. The culture of active learning, collaboration, and community at The New School have allowed our son to grow and become a more confident participant in his learning. We are forever grateful.
