From The Mount Vernon School

At Mount Vernon, we believe that your child should love school. We believe that relationships are foundational to a love of learning and that when teachers truly know and understand the curiosities and passions of their students, incredible things can happen. This approach has led students to pursue passion projects, collaborate with nonprofit organizations, and work hand-in-hand with Fortune 100 corporations. Our alumni are expanding their footprint across the country by being accepted to top-tier schools and receiving nationally recognized awards. Additionally, students have access to more than 54 sports teams, over 90 arts opportunities, and global travel. We have recently opened the doors to our new Upper School building which includes an industry-grade recording studio, a glass-walled cafe and coffee shop, College Counseling Suite, STEM and Maker spaces, community spaces, and a wing for the Arts: fine arts, digital arts, dance studio, a VR/AR lab, and a Black Box theater.

As a new MV family we could not be happier! When searching for a school, our priority was to find a place where our daughter would be happy and successful. The faculty set a wonderful example for the kids of what it means to serve. I often see Dr Jacobsen, Head of School, opening doors for students at Lower School carpool in the mornings. I love that there are so many ways to get involved as a parent. Prayer group, book club, Parent University presentations, weekly Chapel, arts/athletic events, volunteer opportunities. There are ample ways to get involved and feel connected. MV truly values every member of the community. MV is at the forefront of best teaching practices and innovative ways to engage every kind of learner. Teachers collaborate together to ensure the best possible learning environment for every student. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and supportive, and my daughter’s transition has been smooth and seamless. We are so grateful to be a part of the MV family!

We could not be happier that our family landed at Mount Vernon. After attending another major Private School in Atlanta and realizing it wasn't a good fit for our family, we arrived at MV. From the first admissions tour we were welcomed at the school and felt so comfortable on campus. Each day, my children are chatting the entire drive home about what they learned, their experiences, and how creative their teachers are. We are so impressed with the teachers and administration. You can tell that every person that interacts with our family truly KNOWS my children. I also love how connected MV is with the Sandy Springs police. My children love hanging with Officer Mike and I love knowing that I drop them off daily in a safe, nurturing environment. The teachers know my child's likes and passions - and those are incorporated into the learning. I am so thankful that we are #bettertogether as a part of the MV family.
When we began our school search, we focused on finding a school that felt like an extended family of our own. One that was inclusive and provided parents an opportunity to get involved. This is exactly what we found at Mount Vernon. From weekly chapel where parents are welcome to join, family share days, to mystery readers, parents are always welcome. Most importantly the teachers do an incredible job communicating with parents and bringing them along on their child’s journey. This includes communication on a daily basis through emails, pictures and suggestions to keep the learning going at home. We also wanted to find a school that focused on developing our child into a well-rounded individual that learned empathy and strive to help others. The classes are constantly working on community projects, learning how they can give back, exploring each student’s differences and celebrating them. We could not be happier with Mount Vernon.
