Academically, this school is leaps and bounds above the other area schools. The Lower School is unparalleled, it’s that exceptional. The Middle School is great. They do a nice job transitioning students from the Lower School to the rigorous demands of the Upper School. The Upper School could use some refinement. Classes are tough. Teaching is great. However, the student body lacks school spirit and there is no equal opportunity for leadership roles. If you’re an Old Money/Legacy family, the opportunities are at every corner (ie: “character” awards, selection to represent the school, Homecoming Court...that sort of thing). If you’re military, a corporate transplant or Asian, the school will happily take your tuition money and take credit for the academic success of your children, but your students will not be recognized at Awards ceremonies or by their peers. It’s a small school in a small town where “who” your family is still matters.

I have been at Montgomery Academy since the third grade. It has been such a wonderful experience and I have met so many great people. This school has helped me get ready for college by allowing everyone to take college preparatory classes. The teachers want to see you succeed so they make sure you know the materials. They genuinely care about their student s and it shows. The administration works everyday to make sure that the students and teachers are comfortable in their environment. The sports are great. The atmosphere at any sports game is amazing and it makes everyone want to be a part. Overall, The Montgomery Academy has shaped into a great student and has prepared me for college in ways that I would never have thought. I couldn't thank them enough for the great experience I had at this school.
The Montgomery Academy has the premier academic curriculum in the River Region, offering 20+ AP courses. But beyond the impressive academic offerings, this school is very much devoted to helping young people reach their full potential as knowledgeable, honorable, service-oriented human beings. This is a school with a heart for its students. I gladly, without reservation, send my son to its doors every day. When I drop him off, I know he will be safe, he will be taught and nurtured by talented faculty, and he will be loved and valued.
