Highly recommend this school. Single best decision we made for all five of our kids (2 graduated, 3 currently enrolled). All of our children are different in their academic abilities and extra curricular interests and yet this school has uniquely tailored the experience to maximize the potential for each one. We can not thank this school enough and could not be happier with the experience each child has received at MacDuffie. The teachers, staff and administrators are exemplary, strongly invested in the kids and the school, and are highly responsive. The academics are rigorous, preparing for a successful launch to college, yet with abundant academic and social support. The community (teachers, administrators, staff, other students) is a warm and welcoming community-your child will have the opportunity to learn along-side kids from their local communities as well as from across the world, with ample opportunity for real and lasting friendships- truly a place of unexpected gifts.
I have loved my first year as a MacDuffie middle school student, and I have felt welcomed since day 1. From the wide variety of sports and clubs, to the very active arts department, as well as many opportunities to get involved in musicals and plays, there are many ways to get involved after the school day ends. There are many options for food every day, as well as a salad bar and many other options. I feel challenged, but not pushed too far beyond my limit, and I always feel as though I can ask any of the teachers for help, and there is even a designated time after school for if you need help in a class. Since MacDuffie is an international school, I have learned so much about other cultures just this year, and I can't wait to learn more in the future. I would very highly recommend it to anyone interested in going.
I first wanted to go to MacDuffie when I was in fifth grade. My older sister was already a student at MacDuffie, and I wanted to be like her, like "the big kids." I begged my parents to attend, but alas, I was too young. Instead, I took it upon myself to visit every chance I could. Through attending the musicals, concerts, and movie nights that the students put on every year, MacDuffie quickly began to feel like home, even from that young age. Finally, when it was my turn to be a student, I not only experienced what my sister did, but I was able to explore other things too. From mock trial to girl's JV basketball to the dance team, I was pushed beyond my comfort zone. I made friendships with people from all over the world and developed deep relationships with the supportive staff at MacDuffie. It's safe to say I would not be the person I am today without the help of all the people I've met at MacDuffie, both staff and students alike.
