My incredible experience at The Lutheran High School of Kansas City reverberates in my life still today. Academically, the school pushed me to explore the world with my own curiosity, driving my own learning and development while still preparing me for the rigors of college. This is mainly due to the fantastic teachers at LHSKC who get to know all of their students and help each of them succeed.
Now, the central selling point of LHSKC is the Christian community of parents, students, teachers, and alumni. The positive, loving environment created at this school fosters students that become caring leaders in a world needing more Christ-like men and women to take charge. This school is doing the Lord's work every day and will bless every family wanting to give it a chance.

LHSKC prepared me for the rigors of college paper writing and time management but otherwise wasn't great--nor was my experience typical. This is a very small school, so the classes are small, and there's an opportunity to do EVERY extracurricular you want, but the teachers tend to pick favorites. Also, as a highly conservative school they offer nothing in the way of sex education and are not LGBT friendly. They seem to be getting better, but overall a highly mixed bag.
As a freshman, I was incredibly unsure of myself. I was often the kid in the corner, alone, with her nose in a book. I didn’t want to meet new people. However, my parents encouraged me to to join an activity. I grew as an athlete, student and a person. and learned to love being involved. Now I hold positions as the Vice President of student council, a member of band, drama, the basketball and track teams, the editor of yearbook, a member of National Honor Society, and much more. I am so much different than I was when I began at LHS and I love the person I have become. As someone who intends to be a sencondary education major (a decision I came to thanks to my experience with the LHS staff), it helps to see examples of faith, love, and leadership in my teachers. I hope to someday be able to help create the family environment in my classroom that has been created for me at The Lutheran High School of Kansas City.
