The Loomis Chaffee School is a diverse and rich culture that I have the privledge of being a part of. This school is competitive to get accepted to, and many would assume that creates a competitive air. That is the opposite of true. Loomis students are open and kind, wanting each other to succeed as much a school ourselves. I am a boarder in the new Cutler Hall, and we are making it a home. The academics and rigorous, but teachers are open and willing to help students with any problems. There is a quantitative resource center in the math and science building where students can receive help from high level students, and a writing workshop for editing advise. The diversity makes Loomis unique as well. My favorite event is Latino Fest! Here at Loomis, you will see the world through a different lenses with people who care about education and the common good all around you.
Review The Loomis Chaffee School
Loomis boasts challenging academics, competitive sports, and ample opportunities for independent studies. The alumni network, Experiential Learning, and Center for Excellence in Teaching make sure that classes are hands-on and meaningful. Campus is a short walk from town, and the nature of the campus is that of a safe haven. Students work more to lift each other up as a community than as rivals. Renovations will bring a bigger dining hall, a technology lab, and a slew of unique courses such as Architecture or Design, adding to the already extensive offerings ranging from Brazilian History, Model T, where students make and drive their own car, Dance Composition, to Water. Even the headmaster teaches her own classes, and the atmosphere between faculty and students, volume of student run events, and constant surveys and opportunity for feedback puts power in the hands of the community, making Loomis a truly Democratic institution.
Loomis is an amazing school. The amount of kids you will meet on campus is amazing, and they are from all over the world. There are always games or events to attend on the weekend. Everyone on campus is striving to be the best student possible, while at the same time helping others. The community on campus is an extremely welcoming and safe place to attend high school. Loomis is the ideal private school to attend if your looking for a place for your son or daughter to become prepared for college. The English department prides itself on the writing workshop program, which turns high school level paper writers into college level paper writers. To make things short if your looking for the place for your son or daughter to make life long friends while getting the best education possible Loomis is the place for your child.
