I loved my experience attending Charter Arts! I enjoyed that I had the ability to contribute my artistic skills and gain my skill level at the same time. I met my best friends here and I am so happy I met them. As a theatre major I enjoyed the curriculum and my instructors, they were all extremely supportive and inspirational. They taught us great life lessons from respect to how to present yourself in public and around others. Being a student at this school is definitely one of the reasons why I am who I am today. I had many great experiences while attending school here. For example: Directing the Black History month show, understudying in Steel Magnolias, and being a theatre major and a dance minor. I feel that Charter Arts could work on growing a more diverse environment within the faculty and staff because the importance of this is present within the students of color and their families. Having diversity in the student body and the faculty is crucial in education.
My school has such a healthy focus on taking care of yourself by splitting your day to do the art that you're passionate about. The teacher's are genuine in their concerns, and the guidance department is not just focused on college, but also a lot on mental health. The environment that the school possess allows for one to grow both emotionally, but also academically. After transferring to my school from two other public schools, my mental health has improved and my grade's have grown to be higher!
This school holds so many memories in its walls, and I am so happy to have gotten accepted there! I am in my junior year currently, and am proud to have gotten to spend spend freshman and sophomore year there, and soon senior year as well. This school is so unique and filled with passionate, kind, and diverse students. Our community here is strong, and each day brings something new. This school doesn’t just provide you with enough knowledge to make it to college, if one cares about it enough to continue on, it provides you with opportunity to become a better person as a whole, and the staff and fellow students are always ready to help and support one another.
