Academics are mediocre, teachers seem overwhelmed and tend to cram at the end of the year, and leadership at the school is weak. My kids did learn about Judaism. Administrators are less mature than the students they are supposed to be leading and mentoring. The sixth grade dean distinguishes herself in this regard. There are very tight cliques at Schechter and little movement or respect between groups. This is true of the parents too. Once you decide to leave the school for "better" options you will be shunned or ignored by the other parents. With more than 50% of kids receiving financial aid, we figured the spending per student was likely higher at our public school. Lefell/Schechter might be your only option if you don’t have financial resources or must send your kids to a Jewish day school. There are better public and private options. It speaks volumes that board of trustees members send their kids to other private/Jewish schools. Reviews on glassdoor.com support what we believe.

The school has a very tight-knit community, and really takes care of each student as an individual. With a rigorous dual curriculum, students learn the value of managing their time and resources, and deciding what is really important to them. Sports are an important part of the school community, and joining is highly recommended. The college counseling office has a lot of turnover, but are extremely helpful in spite of this. The school truly fosters a connection with Israel and Judaism, and gives students a wide variety of opportunities to experience different aspects of Jewish culture and life.
Great place with a great community! Students receive a great education from teachers who really care about their success, and the school does a great job at making sure kids are happy at the same time. Great support system!
