Since 1978, we have inspired our students to be independent and intellectually curious individuals.

In my opinion, this school's academically rigorous curriculum is just... too much. In my 8th grade year, I met these much too high expectations, but at the cost of my own emotional/mental well-being. Additionally, I've noticed that Indy's disciplinary principles more often than not fail to have any affect. The worst thing teachers will do is write you up or make you write an apology letter(at least, to my knowledge, but I've continually seen teachers try and fail to fix my grade's behavioral issues)- which, I can guarantee, does just about nothing. For a variety of reasons it would take far too long to list here, both me and my parents regret choosing Independence. I strongly advise anyone reading this review to look elsewhere if they care at all for their child's mental health and self-esteem.

Review The Independence School

I am an alumnus of Independence and also a current parent. This isn’t just a school, but a community. The focus is not just on academics but also on citizenship and community service. This school prepared me for a rigorous curriculum in both high school and college. The school is excellent academically but it goes a step further by teaching students study skills that are useful and applicable throughout a student’s schooling and even into their career. My daughter can’t wait to go to school every morning and is excelling here. I can’t say enough good things about Independence!

As a parent of two Independence graduates, I can attest to the quality of the education that the school provides. My children entered high school with organizational skills, strong study habits, and were comfortable writing research papers. Both were also athletes on Independence teams. The combination of strong academics and competitive athletics was great! My son was a very capable math student and was able to remain challenged above his grade level. Independence was worth it!
