The Harvey School Reviews
Rating 4.11 out of 5 62 reviews
Harvey is a special school with a strong sense of community providing an environment that encourages learning, creatively and risk taking academically as well as in sports, the arts and many other areas. Harvey's college prep curriculum encourages critical and creative thinking while ensuring that students maintain self-respect and self-reliance. A diverse student body with a wide variety of academic abilities and backgrounds, Harvey offers grade level, honors advanced placement courses, while focusing on each student to ensure that they are being challenged and supported. Small class sizes, collaborative learning environment and access to teachers make Harvey a wonderful, engaging learning environment. Students are encouraged to try new things, push themselves beyond their own expectations – academically as well as on the sports fields, in the art center, robotics lab or in Model UN. Harvey is where students want to learn, explore, and excel! Harvey provides "Rigor with Heart!"
Our daughter's experience at the Harvey middle school has been transformative. She’s become a happy, engaged student who truly enjoys her classes and doesn't want the school week to end! Harvey offers a rare learning environment that's both caring and energizing. The intimate class sizes allow teachers to get to know each student well and to nurture their individual growth with focused attention, encouragement, and acknowledgment. There's an atmosphere of warm congeniality without the burden of intense academic competition or social pressures. Harvey feels like a happy, harmonious place where students can be themselves and explore their interests with authenticity. The scope of classwork is wide and deep enough to challenge our middle schooler, and there’s a great variety of electives and after-school offerings, especially in the arts. We also appreciate the value Harvey places on public speaking, with opportunities such as the school-wide speech competition and poetry contest.
Harvey is a school with a special sauce. It combines a strong athletic program with state-of-the-art programs, rigorous academics, and opportunities for kids to find joy and connection. My graduate got into all nine of the colleges he applied to, including his reach schools, and his friends got into their top choices too. My younger son is thriving and trying new sports and programs including mural painting and more. Harvey offers differentiated teaching for all types of learning for those who need extra help and those who need more challenges!
