From The Gregory School

Since 1980, The Gregory School has offered a challenging curriculum, small classes, accomplished and dedicated teachers, a pervasive sense of community, and state-of-the-art facilities. At TGS, students experience their education: They pursue passions, build relationships with faculty, and participate in the community.

On any given day you can find students delivering monologues in the theater, earning college credit in the chemistry lab, building an invention in the MIT Fab Lab, playing sports, creating art, tutoring peers in the writing center, playing music, dancing, teaching senior citizens to use their smart phones, and more.

The Gregory School is transforming learning and transforming students' lives. Our students lead institutions, found movements, invent technology, run cities. Students leave TGS with a sense of agency; they believe they can change the world for the better and it is our aim to ensure we give them the knowledge, skills, experiences and confidence to do so.

My son just started his fifth year at The Gregory School, and I cannot say enough good things about the school. Because of the small classes, opportunities to explore interests, and teachers willing to work individually with students, he is thriving. He has multiple favorite classes and teachers, and looks forward to going to school. As a parent, I am so grateful for all that The Gregory School offers!

There was a wonderful connection between the teaching faculty and the students. Smaller class sizes and a specific overall emphasis on community made it much easier to learn in a collaborative way, and I seldom felt as though I was having a teacher drone on with a lecture. These teachers allowed me to be positively engaged in subject matter and encouraged me to help others in a meaningful way. I would like to see a stronger sense of communication between the student body and the non academic faculty. Though I was made aware of our connection to the teachers, I sometimes felt as though the student body grew frustrated with administrative aspects of the school that, in my opinion, could’ve been avoided with a clearer sense of objective up front.
Both of my sons have had a wonderful experience at The Gregory School, both for middle school and high school. The education is personalized and my sons have been in the math and foreign language classes, for example, at their level, no matter their grade or age. The teachers at the Gregory School are phenomenal--creative, innovative, and experts in their field and they bring tremendous energy to the classroom and the subjects. Because of the small class sizes, students get to know their teachers, and teachers are easily accessible for extra help during free times and before and after school. The college counseling is excellent. Many colleges and universities visit the school and the students are accepted into competitive schools all over the country, while earning outstanding amounts of financial support.
