The Greene School embraces an expeditionary-based pedagogy and strives to impart the values of integrity, compassion, tolerance, perseverance, and responsibility—both personal as well as societal. By providing direct experiences in nature, along with the latest in environmental science and technology, we prepare our students to be informed, skilled, innovative, and involved community leaders. The Greene School is located in West Greenwich, RI and has a beautiful campus with 70 acres. This school has hiking trails as well as a rock climbing wall. It offers a challenging academic curriculum that keeps their students engaged in learning. The students attend a daily "crew" that allows them to develop community building skills as well as build relationships with others. The teachers and staff at TGS are amazing and are always offering to help any student. My son attends this school has never been happier. The Greene School has helped him grow as a student as well as an individual. I am so thankful that he has had such a positive experience. This school is truly a place where the community embraces each students individuality and allows them to shine!
As a member of the Expeditionary Learning schools network, The Greene School uses the learning expeditions model to create interdisciplinary and authentic educational experiences for its students. Expeditions, such as the Grade 12 “Our Place by the Sea,” explore real world topics in depth (sea level rise, Block Island wind farm, salt marsh restoration) and culminate in student presentations for stakeholders. In this way, learning becomes relevant for students, and helps them develop problem solving and communication skills. Students enroll in a rigorous pre-college program of studies at The Greene School. Advanced Placement, Early Enrollment & Concurrent Enrollment college classes and enrichment courses are offered.
Students apply to colleges through-out the northeast, and have been accepted at such prestigious schools as Rutgers University, Bennington College, Reed College, Mt. Holyoke College, Amherst College and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

This school is amazing. I went to school here for four years and it was the best experience of my life. I love the fact that the students are able to learn from the natural resources given to us on our campus, as well as the tight knit community that we are all able to be a part of. While going to The Greene School I got many opportunities I would not have recieved in a normal public school such as meeting friends and classmate from different parts of the state, interactive field work with professionals. These professionals are always super nice and help to shape our future in an important and eco-frienndly way.
