The Grauer School Reviews
Rating 4.82 out of 5 56 reviews
My daughter just graduated from middle school at Grauer and we have nothing but positive things to say about the school. We chose it mainly because of the caring atmosphere and multiple expeditions (2 weeks each year included in tuition) but were really impressed with the quality of the academics and sports. We knew Grauer had a great reputation for arts and that was definitely true. My daughter went from never having sung in public to singing solos in front of the entire school! Terrific teachers who love what they do and give the kids the confidence to try anything.
Grauer is a fantastic fit with our daughter's personality and learning style. The emphasis on actual knowledge (vs. test results), the importance of the outdoors, practical applications of classroom lessons, and the culture that permeates the staff and student body can't be matched anywhere else. The twice a year expeditions offer world-expanding, eye-opening experiences, and the small classroom sizes facilitate confidence and open expression. If you're looking for hard driving academic rigor with a focus on Ivy League recruiters, try Bishops, but if you want a well-rounded, kind child that is prepared to go to any college they want to, then Grauer is the place to be.
My daughter graduated from The Grauer School and my son is currently a senior. This school has been amazing, and I feel so fortunate that both have been able to attend. The small class sizes help shy children feel more comfortable participating and they allow the inquisitive child to ask questions and explore creativity and out of the box thinking. The relationships students have with their teachers is unlike anything I've ever seen. Students feel valued and appreciated, yet they are also held to a high standard. Students feel they have a voice in their education and can participate in any sport or activity. Although there is a cost to attend, the school is willing to work with families and provide financial aid, when needed. I couldn't have asked for a better middle school and high school experience for my kids. They have grown into kind, confident, capable, and intellectually curious young adults. This is the BEST school!
