It was amazing to me. There were more diverse students there than any other school where I experienced. The school may not had sports or music programs, however, they do lots of art programs and sometimes theater. The teachers were so good to me and treated me very well and that's when I learned that I was safe there. It was like another home to me. That school will always be a part of me for the rest of my life! I wouldn't know how to get where I am now, if it wasn't for those magnificent teachers. I know I was sometimes mad at them, for some reasons, but that's what happens when I had ups and downs.
This school really could be great, but it is far too neglected to excel. The school is a very small charter school, so as a result they have low funding compared to other schools. Because of this, we lack sports programs, music programs, or almost any clubs. It's unfortunate, really. Teachers and students alike would love to have the ability to have this classes, but the size of the school doesn't permit this. Academics are alright; they'll get you through, but they aren't anything special. The school's main focus are its exploratory programs to help you make it for yourself in the real world. Students participate in many programs outside of the school, such as site and Walkabout. These let students professionally pursue interests or careers for a semester, and is definitely the best part of the school.
It’s a unique school with a welcoming atmosphere and a great sense of community. The faculty are wonderful and personable. Because of the small school size the faculty usually get to know all the students on an individual basis allowing for a very personalized school experience. The academics aren’t all there, but that wasn’t what I needed to focus on. In my time there so it worked out really well for me.
