Great school with opportunities, support, and advancement of self if one desires. I am a leader at my school. My school hears a student's voice and takes action for student needs if students verbalize a need. If you are dedicated, motivated, and want results in life, this is the school for you. The main change: more sports related events/competition and larger student body involved in sports.
One child attended Galloway for years (my other children attended other local schools). My kids have no behavior problems or learning disabilities and are academically high-achieving. Galloway has some warm and wonderful teachers who care (same as other kids' schools). Galloway also has a far higher number of incompetent teachers, caused by poor hiring practices and a failure to hold teachers accountable. This problem has persisted despite numerous changes in leadership. Parents and kids are friendlier and less cliquey than at other schools. Students who excel in sports and the arts are celebrated, however, while those who focus on academic achievement feel marginalized by administration. Galloway's culture, leadership, and college counselors promote underachievement. If you express valid concerns about the curriculum, you are met with defensiveness/hostility and are "encouraged" to leave. Galloway spends too much time and energy cultivating its image; not enough on substance.
I have been attending The Galloway School for 15 years, and I wouldn't trade that time for the world. I believe it is an exceptional school with exceptional people. Teachers are always willing to talk with students or offer help when needed. Students are friendly to each other and create a loving school culture. I feel very prepared for college!
