The Fessenden School Reviews
Rating 4.84 out of 5 44 reviews
My boys (7th and 6th grades) just finished their first year at Fessy and it exceeded ALL of our expectations! I wish we had made the move sooner.
The focus and attention on boys and their growth was outstanding - they are developing boys to meet today and tomorrow's complex challenges.
The focus on group learning, team work and respect across all dimensions is seamless, but powerful.
The International / Boarding student influence is a special element - it literally opens up the world to all boys at Fessy. There is no other school I know of in this age range that brings that breadth and depth of perspective to their school.
The faculty and administration hail from varied backgrounds, geographies and give much valued texture and context for developing critical thinkers and leaders.

Although our experience is limited to two years, we have been very pleased with Fessenden (we have one son who has completed his pre-K and K years, and our second will start pre-k in the fall). Our initial draw to the school was due to it's mission which focuses on balance between academics, sports and character. So far, we have found that it truly follows through on the character aspect of this balance which we believe is extremely important with young boys. Our son is growing up to be thoughtful and curious, and is very attached to the school already! As parents we have found numerous opportunities to be involved, make friends, and feel connected to our son's experience and growth. And of course, the school has incredible resources, programs, faculty and staff. It is truly a wonderful community and one we feel fortunate to be a part of. We are excited to see what awaits as our boys advance through it.
Our sons joined Fessy in grade 4. We came from a public school where they were doing fine. At Fessy, our boys thrived! They worked to perform their best every single day, in the classroom and on the sports field. By middle school, they were on track in ways we had only dreamed of. They took risks and tried theater, the wresting team, the sailing team, and photography. They formed meaningful bonds with teachers and learned how manage their day and academic process. They were comfortable asking for time with a teacher to get extra help or support. They learned to tie a tie, shake a hand, introduce themselves and offer help. We are proud of the young men they became during their time at Fessy.
